Dal 29 marzo 2012 lo spazio MIA, con oltre 300 mq dedicati all’interior design, con collezioni e pezzi unici di design internazionale, apre le porte alla Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea Wunderkammern. 

Designers e produttori come Tom Dixon, Hella Jongerius, Nobody & Co., e15, Hay, Squint, Marteen Baas, Ercol, entrano in relazione con gli artisti della Collezione Wunderkammern, iniziando con Gianni Asdrubali, Guglielmo Achille Cavellini, Mark Jenkins, Agostino Iacurci, Ludo, Renzogallo, Valentina Vannicola.

Collezionisti ed amanti dell’arte contemporanea ritrovano all’interno del raffinato spazio di MIA l’anima originaria di Wunderkammern con “opere installate in privata abitazione” e con il suo distintivo “oblique thinking”.

After three months of work is finally ready “A.S. Rebibbia”, the documentary by Massimiliano Vana about the “Rebibbia on the wall project”.
In the summer 2010, Walls, a Rome based “Public Art” association, asked me to set up a 3 weeks workshop with a group of fifteen inmates from the “Maximum Security” yard of Rebibbia, the Rome main prison, intended to create a big mural within the walls of the courtyard for the open-air hours. 
Together with inmates we decided to create a mural inspired by my own immaginative world mixed with their own desires and suggestions, for example they asked for have many references to nature, to external life, to animals (often symbolizing their own city mascotte), to “relaxing moments” and many other suggestions.
At the beginning I set up a sketch but, day by day, talking together and trying to gratify the idea of each inmates, grew up something of totally new and unexpected.

After this first experience the association and the inmates decided to continue the project with me in another big space, the football field.
This time, also because in the meanwhile some of them have been fascinated by mural painting, they decided to work on something different to challenge their own skills and precison and to satisfy their desire to work on a mural concerning their biggest passion: their own football team.
To satisfy this wishes we decided to arrange a sort of huge banner divided into 20 frame, as the number of the main Italian football teams and the inmates involved in the project.
Each of them projected and painted a pattern for his own frame.

After 3 weeks working only two hours per day, cause of the prison restriction, the results was a huge multi-team banner.

With bright, multi-layered layered characters, Agostino Iacurci is bringing something great to the neighborhoods he has painted murals in recently.  He has been making interesting illustrations for years while he studied fine art and with a background in graffiti and painting outdoors, it only makes sense to see such amazing murals from him. His whimsical characters seem to tell a story with their gestures alone and they connect through the artists attention to the local surroundings.  On paper or on a five story facade, I am definitely excited to follow Agostino’s work in the coming years. —Ronnie Wrest / The Citrus Report.
